Raising Awareness of Breast Cancer Through Education & Early Screening
We are very excited to partner with The Iowa Affiliate of Susan G. Komen for the Cure throughout 2011-2012 as, together, we focus on educating women on the importance of early detection by raising the awareness and the importance of early screening as well as the availability of services to encourage women to seek a yearly screening. Education will be provided through social marketing campaigns, community events, lunch and learn presentations, and dissemination of information into Southwest Iowa. To learn more about when we will be in your area, please contact:
Education of both the public and healthcare providers about our charitable patient care program is another important piece of this project. This program provides funding to uninsured and/or underserved women between the ages of 20 and 65 for screening mammograms, diagnostic mammograms, ultrasounds, lymphedema garments, etc… Our goal is to help as many women as possible while the funding holds out.
During this time, we will also reach out to healthcare providers, community agencies, county health department, etc… throughout the counties of Pottawattamie, Mills, Cass, Adams, Adair and Audubon to join the advisory committee. In addition, we will again partner with local businesses, community groups and individuals to promote the importance of breast self exams and yearly screenings through our county-wide "Pink Out" events in October of 2012.
